Shares personal experience at weight loss surgery seminar
Teaneck, NJ - Khaliah Ali, daughter of boxer Muhammad Ali, will share her experience with weight loss band surgery on July 29 at 7 p.m. at Holy Name Medical Center's Marian Hall. Sponsored by My Program for Life, Holy Name will be hosting this free, life-altering patient seminar for those who would like to make an informed decision about weight loss surgery.
Khaliah Ali, a former participant in the My Program for Life program, will talk about the positive effects that weight loss band surgery has had on her life. Ms. Ali has said that the surgery inspired her to write a book called Fighting Weight, which chronicles her success story and unique perspective.
The July 29th seminar will feature a team of physicians, nutritionists, and specialists who have created a program of care that is personalized to every patient, maximizing success after bariatric surgery. Alexander Abkin, MD, Nicholas Bertha, DO, Vincent Iannace, MD, and Stefanie Vaimakis, M.D., Holy Name's board-certified bariatric surgeons named "Top Doctors" by New Jersey Monthly magazine, will discuss what every prospective patient must know to make an informed decision about weight-loss surgery, including:
* The benefits and risks of bariatric surgery
* The different types of bariatric surgery and their advantages
* What to expect before and after surgery
The My Program for Life team is dedicated to giving patients the tools and knowledge to live a healthier life, without the weight. In addition to providing support and education, My Program for Life bases its approach on research and clinical experience, and is designed to help patients and their loved ones through the post-surgical transition.
Obesity is a major risk factor for serious illnesses and medical conditions, including heart disease, diabetes, joint problems, cancer and stroke. It can also affect an individual's relationships, mobility, and the ability to work productively.
Future weight loss surgery seminars by My Program for Life at Holy Name Medical Center are scheduled for September 23, October 28, and December 2.
